“Durant cinquanta-vuit anys, la meva obra s’ha centrat en l’abstracció, un camí que vaig considerar la manera més pura de creativitat: la construcció de mons propis, no la còpia de la realitat.
Aquest any, però, he sentit la necessitat que els meus llenços expliquin una història, una narrativa que l’espectador pugui completar amb la seva pròpia imaginació. Aquest desig m’ha portat de tornada a la pintura figurativa.
A través d’una sèrie d’obres, presento una dona, sempre d’esquena, contemplant allò que l’envolta. És alhora protagonista i espectadora, convidant cada persona a formar part de l’obra i a imaginar la seva pròpia història.
Així, la meva obra no només ha canviat de forma, sinó que ha evolucionat en el seu propòsit: passar de ser una creació de mons a una finestra a mons que esperen ser descoberts per l’espectador”.
“For 58 years, my work has focused on abstraction, a path I considered the purest form of creativity: the construction of one’s own worlds, not the copying of reality.
However, this year, I felt the need for my canvases to tell a story, a narrative that the viewer can complete with their own imagination. This desire has led me back to figurative painting.
Through a series of works, I present a woman, always with her back turned, contemplating her surroundings. She is both protagonist and spectator, inviting each person to become part of the work and imagine their own story.
Thus, my work has not only changed in form but has evolved in its purpose: from being a creation of worlds to a window into worlds waiting to be discovered by the viewer.”
